Ts. Dr. Mohd Rashid bin Ab Hamid is a Professor at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) where he served the Centre for Mathematical Sciences. He obtained his first degree [Bachelor of Science and Computer with Education (Hons) (Mathematics)] from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2002 and a Master’s Degree [Master of Technology Management (Human Capital Resource)] from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in 2006. He completed his PhD (Quality and Productivity Improvement) at School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science & Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2012.
In teaching and learning, he taught several mathematics subjects that include Basic Mathematics, Calculus, Mathematics for Management and Applied Statistics for undergraduate level. For postgraduate, he teaches subject such as Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and Research Methodology and Organisational Behaviour (OB) for science and management students respectively. He is interested conducting research in his field of interests and expertise particularly SEM and thus far, he has successfully carried out number of research projects in the field of applied statistics in management, medical statistics & health sciences, business and education.
He involved in more than 16 research grants which he headed (Principle Investigator) and also becomes the research member. He published research articles in journals and conference proceedings locally and internationally. He also wrote chapters in books and two books and now working hard to publish several books i.e. Practical Guide for Structural Equation Modelling for postgraduate students, research methods and lifelong learning book.
Apart from that, he also actively supervised undergraduate (BSc and BEng) and postgraduate students i.e. masters and PhD level. To date, he has successfully supervised/co-supervised 15 students which include five (5) undergraduates, four (4) Master of Science and six (6) PhD graduates. His expertise is recognised internationally as he was also invited as the Plenary Speaker at the International Conference – Lifelong Education for Sustainable Development (LESD) which was organised by Ogarev Mordovia State University in Russia, invited speaker for a session at the International Statistical Institute – Regional Statistical Conference (ISI-RSC 2014) which is organised by the Bank Negara Malaysia. While at the national level, he became the invited speaker for Seminar Kebangsaan Institut Statistik Malaysia (ISM). He is also a frequent invited speaker for SPSS and Research Methodology for internal training at UMP. In addition, he is also the invited speaker for Research Methodology course for Diplomatic and Administrative Officer (PTD) by Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN). Besides that, he was the speaker for SPSS and PLS workshops at Politeknik Muadzam Shah and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) respectively. He was selected and entrusted to hold position as the Council Member in the Malaysian Institute of Statistics (ISM) for the duration 2014 – 2020 (3 terms in a row). Several significant achievements and recognitions of Dr. Mohd Rashid academic career clearly indicates that his work is recognised.
Among the national and international recognitions is 2019 AGBA Distinguished Global Scholar which was awarded by Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA), USA, held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Delhi), New Delhi, India on 3rd July 2019. Also, he garnered the Best Paper Award in the International Economic and Business Management Conference 2010 which was organised by Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). He also recognised for three years in a row where in 2013, he received the Best PhD Thesis Award, while in 2014 and 2015 he is awarded the Best Popular Article and all recognitions come from the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (PERSAMA). He also garnered quite number of research awards locally and internationally.
