Monthly Mathematical Colloquium (MMC) 1/2024

On the 26th of January 2024, PSM UMPSA achieved another successful milestone by organizing the first Monthly Mathematical Colloquium (MMC) of the year. This gathering served as a platform for intellectual exchange and featured a knowledge-sharing session by two PhD students.

In the first slot session, Nur Atiqah binti Mustapa, a PhD student supervised by Ts. Dr. Azlyna binti Senawi has shared her research entitled “Feature Selection using Law of Total Variance With Fast Correlation-Based Filter”. This study aimed to propose a new filtering strategy by identifying relevant and redundant features that are less time-consuming.

The title of his presentation, “Data Multi-Criteria Decision Making using Game Theory Technique with Application to Oil Production and Price,” immediately piqued the audience's interest. He proposed the S-TOR method to aid the players in selecting the best NE with respective criteria and allocate fair weights to the criteria to each player using the Shapley value solution concept.
