PSM successfully organised SiMD 2021

On August 26th, 2021, the CSM successfully organised SiMD2021. The main objective of this symposium was to provide a platform for all postgraduate students from CSM as well as from other faculties at UMP and other universities to share their expertise and research in various disciplines of mathematics, such as applied mathematics, data sciences, pure mathematics, and operational research. 
 
The symposium was hosted remotely via the Microsoft Teams platform due to the emergence of the worldwide health catastrophe of COVID-19. The opening ceremony was officiated by Professor Dr Mohd Zuki Bin Salleh, the Dean of CSM.

The event gathered a total of 23 participants and each of them was required to submit their pre-recorded presentation video, which was then played during the scheduled parallel sessions.

Two live-streamed knowledge-sharing sessions from two scholarly invited keynote speakers were featured to enliven the symposium under the theme "Empowering Wellbeing and Success in Research Degrees". Dr Aini Azeqa Binti Ma’rof, senior lecturer from UPM, delivered a plentiful speech entitled "How to Manage Stress in Postgraduate Life" in the morning session. Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr Roslinazairimah Binti Zakaria, the Dean of the Centre for Diplomas and Foundations at UMP, delivered a fruitful speech entitled "Statistical Modelling of Rainfall Data" in the afternoon session.

Two best papers and two best presentation videos, as judged by wise academic judgers from CSM were announced during the closing ceremony.
