Introduction

Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) offers two (2) programmes of postgraduate study by research which includes:

  1. Master of Science – NEC 0540 (Mathematics & Statistics)
  2. Doctor of Philosophy – NEC 0540 (Mathematics & Statistics)
The programmes are managed by Postgraduate Study Unit, CMS, led by the Deputy Dean of Research & Postgraduate Study. Our objective is to deliver high-quality academic services and effective management to both postgraduate students and their supervisors within an enriching learning environment.

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences provides a diverse array of research study options encompassing Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Analytics. In the realm of Applied Mathematics, we seek meaningful intersections with various disciplines that can spark novel and practical mathematical concepts. We believe that innovative mathematical reasoning can pave the way for fresh insights and applications.

In the domain of Applied Statistics, our aim is to equip students with the skills required for careers as statisticians, data scientists, data analysts, and more. Through a rigorous curriculum emphasizing statistical methods and real-world data analysis, students learn to derive concrete solutions to tangible problems.

For students interested in the field of Data Analytics, our program equips them with the ability to employ advanced computing techniques, statistical inference, and machine learning methods to extract valuable insights from extensive datasets. This enables students to discern trends and patterns, aiding in forecasting and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
